Ill. Sir Allan Hadley, Potentate 2020
Illustrious Sir Allan Hadley was born in Winnipeg, May 23, 1946. He graduated from Glenlawn Collegiate Institute in 1965 and immediately started employment with Manitoba Hydro. During his working career Illustrious Sir Hadley enrolled in several programs at the University of Winnipeg Continuing Education Department where he earned certificates in Administrative Management; Records and Information Management; and Office Computer Operations. While a student at the U. of W., Illustrious Sir Hadley was appointed to an AD HOC committee as a student representative to review the operations of the Department of Continuing Education. After a 37-year career with Manitoba Hydro he retired in 2002. In retirement he turned his love of golf and his skills as a clubmaker into a secondary career as a golf club technician at a local golf retail store.
Al met Carol Agerbak and they were married September 26, 1970. They have been blessed with two sons, Christian (Jessica) and Grandson Finnian (July 2013) and Leslie (Dyan) and Grandsons Connor (November 2011) and Nolan (September 2014)
After a suggestion from Carol that he should talk to her Father about joining the Lodge, Illustrious Sir Hadley was initiated into Red River Lodge #172 G.R.M. in 1971 and after proceeding through the Chairs became the Worshipful Master in 1982. Illustrious Sir Hadley played a prominent role in the formation of Corinthian Lodge #178 G.R.M. and served as its first Worshipful Master in 1983 and 1984 and again in 2006. He also served as Lodge Secretary in 1985 and 1986.
Illustrious Sir Hadley was elected District Deputy Grand Master of the 13th Masonic District and served in that capacity in 1990-91. He was appointed to the Board of General Purposes on the Library and Archives Committee 1992 – 94. He is currently the Grand Representative for the Grand Lodge of Texas. In June of 2009 he was elected as Junior Grand Warden of the Grand Lodge of Manitoba, Senior Grand Warden in 2010, Deputy Grand Master in 2011, and Grand Master in 2012.
Illustrious Sir Hadley joined St. John’s Chapter #14 Royal Arch Masons in 1973, was the Chapter Scribe E in 1974/75 and served as First Principal in 1978. In 1981 he was appointed Grand Senior Sojourner of the Grand Chapter of Manitoba and in 1982 was elected as the Grand Registrar. In 1981 he was appointed as the Grand Representative for the Supreme Grand Chapter of India. In 1983 he was Anointed and Consecrated into the Order of the High Priesthood. He was elected as the Grand “J”of the Grand Chapter of Manitoba in 2014; Grand “H” in 2015 and Grand “Z” in 2016
In 1974 Illustrious Sir Hadley joined King Edward Preceptory, Knights Templar and served as Presiding Preceptor in 2017 & 2018. In October 1974 he became a member of Khartum Temple and was Fezzed by Illustrious Sir Clifford Brown. In January 1975 he joined the Pipes and Drums and was an active member until health issues forced him to
give up playing the pipes; he is still a member of the Unit. He became a member of the Ruff Riders in 2017 and once again is able to participate in parades.
In 2004 Illustrious Sir Hadley joined Scottish Rite and served as the Thrice Puissant Grand Master for the Winnipeg Lodge of Perfection in 2009, Commander in Chief of the Manitoba Sovereign Consistory in 2013 and Most Wise Sovereign of Bethesda Chapter Rose Croix in 2018.. He was Coroneted an Honourary Inspector General 33° in September 2013 and was elected to and crowned a Sovereign Grand Inspector General 33° and Active Member of Supreme Council in 2014.
Illustrious Sir Hadley was accepted into the Royal Order of Scotland in 2006 and has served as Provincial Grand Guarder of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Manitoba.
In 2011 Illustrious Sir Hadley became a member of: Cyrus Council #2 Royal and Select Masters Cryptic Rite and served as Thrice Illustrious Master in 2019; Winnipeg Conclave #4 Order of the Secret Monitor, or Brotherhood of David and Jonathan and is currently the Supreme Ruler; and Keystone Council #172, Allied Masonic Degrees serving as Sovereign Master 2016 to 2017.
In 2012 Illustrious Sir Hadley was Admitted, Received, Constituted and Installed a Knight Companion of the Red Cross of Constantine, Selkirk Conclave #6, and in 2013 became a member of Prairie Crocus York Rite Sovereign College.
Illustrious Sir Hadley is a member of The Order of the Eastern Star and served as Worthy Patron in 1974. He also had 15 years of service with Scouts Canada in various capacities and was awarded the Medal for Good Service in 1993. Illustrious Sir Hadley is a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and The Hong Kong Veterans Commemorative Association of Canada. He has served on the Board of Governors of the Breezy Bend Golf and Country Club in Winnipeg and is a Past President. Illustrious Sir Hadley is a member of the Anglican Church of Canada.
